    What It's About

Industrialized construction approaches hold tremendous promise for delivering affordable net zero energy housing options. Through iterative product development, automation, creation of sub-assemblies and the development of scaling plans, quality and cost can be influenced substantially to make more housing affordable for more people. This presentation will demonstrate the implementation of some of these principles in the development of a modular home prototype constructed for a residential development in the eastern U.S. Concept design development, advanced equipment selection and integration of manufacturing capabilities will be explored and will provide insight into the options that exist for using factory methods to construct to zero energy standards.
